# The Four Exposure Levels

> Every rule of the Prudent, Balanced, Risky and Advanced levels side by side — size of your copies, leaders, total exposure, drawdown alerts, markets and leverage — with an example on 1,000 USDC.

Your leader decides what to trade. Your level decides how much of it your account copies, and the exposure limits around it. It applies to every new copy; open copies keep the rules they were opened with.

## How Each Level Copies

| | Prudent | Balanced | Risky | Advanced |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| In one line | Up to a quarter of every trade, across 3 leaders. Your balance comes first. | Up to half of every trade, across 3 leaders. Moderate swings, in both directions. | Up to full size, across 3 leaders. Your leader's losses are yours. | Every setting is yours. You are on your own. |
| Opens when your leader opens | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Closes when your leader closes | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Reduces when your leader reduces | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Adds when your leader adds | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | ✓, or off |
| Size of your copies | 25% across 3 leaders | 50% across 3 leaders | 100% across 3 leaders | You choose (Risky's by default) |
| Each leader is copied at | 1/12 of their position | 1/6 of their position | 1/3 of their position | Your size, split the same way |
| Leaders you follow | Up to 3 | Up to 3 | Up to 3 (2+ recommended) | Up to 5 |
| Too-small copies open at 11 USDC | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Plan | Every plan, free trial included | Every plan, free trial included | Every plan, free trial included | Every plan, free trial included |

*Scaled to your balance:* if your balance is 1% of your leader's, Prudent copies 1/12 of 1% of each of their positions, Balanced 1/6 of 1%, and Risky 1/3 of 1%. The size is set per leader: following fewer than 3 leaders lowers your exposure, it never concentrates it. On Risky, we strongly recommend at least 2 leaders: with only one, an account can be wiped out.

*Minimum order:* Hyperliquid's minimum order is 10 USDC. A copy too small for it opens at 11 USDC instead of being skipped, so on a small balance your copies can be larger than your level's share. (It is skipped only when the coin's smallest size step would make it more than 22 USDC, or when your level's exposure cap is reached.)

## Minimum Practical Balance

| | Prudent | Balanced | Risky | Advanced |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Plan for at least | 1,100 USDC | 550 USDC | 300 USDC | 300 USDC with Risky's size |

*Why these amounts:* a leader's typical position is worth about 1/8 of their balance. Each leader is copied at 1/12 (Prudent), 1/6 (Balanced) or 1/3 (Risky) of their position, scaled to your balance. At the amounts above, a copy of that typical position is about 11 USDC, Hyperliquid's minimum. Below them, more than half of your copies open at 11 USDC, larger than your level's share: your account takes more risk than its level shows. It's a guide: a leader who trades smaller positions needs more. The level card shows the real share for your leader (*Leader's trades too small for you*); through the API, `GET /api/v1/preview` gives `tooSmallPct`.

*Why a minimum at all:* Hyperliquid refuses orders under 10 USDC, so every account needs enough balance for its share of a leader's trade to reach that size.

*Recommended level:* the most prudent level whose minimum your balance covers — Prudent from 1,100 USDC, Balanced from 550, Risky from 300. Under 300 USDC, your balance is under every level's minimum: copies open at the 11 USDC floor whatever the level, and we recommend Risky, which stays closest to your traders' proportions (its share per leader is the largest, so fewer copies are rounded up to the floor). Advanced is never recommended. The level step shows this recommendation next to the cards; through the API, `GET /api/v1/levels` and `/preview` give `recommendedLevel`.

## Protection

| | Prudent | Balanced | Risky | Advanced |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Positions open at once | No fixed number | No fixed number | No fixed number | No fixed number, or the maximum you set |
| Total size of your positions | Up to 3× your balance | Up to 10× your balance | Up to 20× your balance | 20× by default, another cap or none |
| Stop of its own on each position | ✕ | ✕ | ✕ | Optional: your own stop and take profits on each copy |
| Your leader's stop loss | Copied | Copied | Copied | Copied, or off |
| Your leader's take profit | Copied | Copied | Copied | Copied, or off |
| Drawdown alert, from your account's highest balance | −8% (heads-up at −6%) | −20% (heads-up at −15%) | −50% (heads-up at −30%) | −50% by default (heads-up at −30%), or yours |
| Automatic pause or stop | ✕ | ✕ | ✕ | Optional: an automatic stop at the drawdown you choose |
| Skips trades that already moved (more than 1%) | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |

One position per coin. On Advanced, you can also set a maximum number of open positions (no limit by default).

**Drawdown alerts** come by Telegram, on your dashboard and by webhook, with one-tap actions: **close losing positions**, **close all**, **pause new copies** or **do nothing**. Nothing happens unless you choose. Want an automatic stop? Choose Advanced: its optional **automatic stop** closes every copy and pauses copying at the drawdown you choose.

WakeTrades adds no stop of its own, except the ones you set at Advanced: a stop and up to two take profits on each copy, as a PnL % of the copy ([Advanced settings](https://waketrades.com/docs/api/endpoints.md#advanced-settings)). If your leader sets a take profit or a stop loss, your copy gets the same price. Each take profit covers the same share of your copy as of your leader's position. When your leader moves or removes them, your copy follows within 5 minutes. A triggered stop is a market order: in a fast market, the loss can be slightly larger.

## Markets

| | Prudent | Balanced | Risky | Advanced |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Coins Hyperliquid caps below 10x leverage | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Stock, index and commodity markets (xyz) | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Hyperliquid Unified Account in cross margin | Required | Required | Required | For xyz markets only |
| No position opened by hand on the account | Required | Required | Required | Not required |
| Leverage in cross margin | Coin's maximum | Coin's maximum | Coin's maximum | Coin's maximum |

Prudent, Balanced and Risky copy only on a Hyperliquid Unified Account in cross margin, with no position opened by hand on that account: otherwise your real exposure is unknown, and new copies wait. Advanced copies on a standard account too, except the stock, index and commodity markets (xyz), which always need a Unified Account. [Switch to a Unified Account](https://waketrades.com/docs/getting-started/switch-to-unified-account.md) in one click.

*Leverage* only sets the margin Hyperliquid holds: your gain, your loss and your liquidation price depend on the size of the position, not on the leverage setting. In cross margin we use the coin's maximum, so less of your balance is held.

## Example With 1,000 USDC

Your leader has 100,000 USDC and opens 20,000 USDC of BTC. Your balance is 1% of theirs, so a full copy would be 200 USDC.

- **Prudent** — You open about 17 USDC of BTC (1/12 of 200). If BTC falls 10%, you lose about 1.70 USDC. If your leader adds or reduces, you do too.
- **Balanced** — You open about 33 USDC of BTC (1/6 of 200). If BTC falls 10%, you lose about 3.30 USDC. Your positions stay under 10,000 USDC in total.
- **Risky** — You open about 67 USDC of BTC (1/3 of 200). If BTC falls 10%, you lose about 6.70 USDC. With your other leaders' trades, your positions can reach 20,000 USDC: a few bad trades can take your whole balance.
- **Advanced** — Starts like Risky; the size, the cap and the rest are yours to change.

At every level, the copy gets your leader's stop loss and take profit if they set them; without them, it closes when your leader closes.

> [!WARNING]
> Every open position on your Hyperliquid account counts toward these limits, including the ones you open yourself, on Hyperliquid, in MetaMask Perps or in another app: they all trade the same account as your MetaMask address. Don't open positions by hand on the account you copy with; use another MetaMask account for that.
